First time carrying

Just got my license a couple days ago. since its friday me and the wifey went out to eat. we went to paragon in sherrerville. i took my gun with me of course and found it somewhat ironic that there was 2 LEOs at the resteraunt sitting by the door, seeing as how you carry a gun b/c they cant be everywhere. i just found it ironic that on my first time carrying they were there.

of course i know they did not follow my out to my car or escort me into the resteraunt but i just found it funny.

Great to hear you are CCing. Just wait until the first time you OC... I normally CC, but I have OC'ed in the past because of that I was wearing, and no one even noticed or if they did, they didnt say anything at all.

id like to try OCing sometime but one, i need a new holster. i usually get a gift card for cabelas for christmas. and two, i feel like i should go with someone. i wouldnt have the balls to do it otherwise. i was kinda blushing while i was CCing. like "i got a gun, i got a gun" not that anyone knew about it anyhow.

on a side note, i am surprised how comfortable the gun is for a full sized 1911 in a cheap holster. didnt buy a good holster b/c id like to buy a different carry gun with the money. i can definately see how people can get so used to the gun being there, they almost forget about it with a good holster and possibly a smaller framed gun.

I highly recommend a good leather holster such as a DeSantis, and a gunbelt. That is IMHO, just as important as a good quality holster. I have a DeSantis holster and DeSantis gun belt, the holster was 80 and the belt was 55. I carry a S/W 4046

on a quality holster. A good holster is important for carrying. There are already several threads regarding quality manufacturers, do a search for them.

Congrats. Carrying is a habit and a lot of times you don't really notice it there. The first couple times you may be cautious and keep pulling your shirt down so it doesn't "flash" (at least I did) but, you'll get over that soon enough and not really care for the most part if it prints or "flashes".

My .02 cents, I would encourage everyone to take a training course. I haven't done a formal comprehensive course yet but I plan on attending "Gunlawyers" course soon. I have done many informal type of classes, but they all lack the law aspect.
