CSI episodes and self defense

Who still watches CSI? i actually just got back into it last year. i went back and watched most of the episodes that i missed. i like the show. i realize that a lot of it is far fetched but makes good TV. (in reality, only roughly 62% of murder cases get closed according to my web search, as opposed to 100% like the show makes out)

anyways. my point. something started to bother me lately. the show makes it seem like justifiable self defense does not exist. last nights episode contained a situation of self defese. (she made the mistake of not calling the authorities) but she was charged with murder. i have no idea how that would be handled in the real world since she in fact did not call the police but it was self defense.

there have been several episodes over the years where the situation was clear cut self defense but the person was charged with murder. CBS makes it seem like self defense is socially unacceptable. and its always murder murder murder. i like the show but as for CBS as a whole, no. it seems like more of their agenda being pushed.
