What would suck is if they put in metal detectors AFTER you put valuable stuff in the safe deposit box.

I'd move my money double-quick, via online access, if my bank refused me entry due to my firearm. I'd write a letter first and clarify that it's not just one panty-wetter speaking for the bank without authority, but once I knew that it was in fact a supported policy, they'd lose my account and I'd suggest the same to everyone else I knew.

Question: I was told recently that carrying in a bank (a national bank) is a violation of the law. I don't believe this is the case. I know it's not a violation of IN state law, but does anyone know if there's federal statute to that effect?

Thanks!

Blessings,
B

The thing is that the bank doesn't give a crap about our petty little deposit accounts. Even a mortgage isn't worth that much to them. They're worth so little to their bottom line that even if you got everyone you know to close their accounts, that they wouldn't even show up as a blip on their profits.

From what I have been reading, the majority says that it is NOT a federal offense to carry inside a bank. There may be signs on the door saying no guns which then would lead to trespassing, etc but not a federal offense unless you were going in with the intent of robbing the bank.

This incident just happened in Michigan and I am sure if it were a federal offense, it would have been in the paper...

Am I missing something here? If I was stupid and was going to rob a bank, Would metal Detectors stop me? Iam already going to jail for robbing the bank, do I care if I make the guard mad at the door?
I left National City years ago, I applied for a loan when I was a police officer. I was buying a AR-10 for the car and a second chance vest. I was told no because of what I said I was buying. This was about 7 years ago and haven't been back. Chase approved me and asked if I needed more than what I asked for. They gave me lower loan rate too.

That all depends on the size of the bank. If it is a large national bank like Chase or Bank of America, then no, we don't matter. But if it is a small bank like the State Bank of Lizton, they would fold. No money on deposit means no money to lend. No money to lend means no interest to charge. No interest to charge, no money being made. It would probably even affect regional banks like Horizon or 1st Source, if you got enough people to withdraw funds.

This is about National City, so no, they wouldn't even feel it.

We're in the process of changing banks yet again as ING has decided that their checking accounts will no longer be allowed to use checks. You can only use credit/debit cards and ATM's. If you want to write a check, you have to log onto their website, enter the information, and they'll mail a check to the recipient. That is the god damn dumbest bank policy I've seen since they decided to start charging to talk to a teller.

Just came from my bank.

Was carrying a rather basic 1911 in an OWB holster under my shirt.

No metal detectors. And I am always armed whenever I go inside for a transaction.

Talked to one of the loan officers at Chase, asked him about carring into the bank. He said his branch has no problems with it as long as your a not robbing the bank. Then he said he likes the thought of the BG's not knowing who has a gun and who doesn't. I like Chase bank.
