![]() | Metal detectors @ banks. I had an incident today @ National City Bank that I thought would be of interest here. Since "we" are not "an organization", per se, I don't believe I'm jumping the gun (so to speak) from what I stated in my email to NatCity, below. I didn't want to play the "cop card" or "race card" (I am caucasian, btw), but did figure it might get their attention a little more. ************************************************** ** I am rather concerned w/ the policy of @ least one of your branches, perhaps more. I stopped @ the 38th & Georgetown Rd. branch in Indianapolis today to make a deposit. I walked in and was told that I "had too much metal on".(!?) Are coins not made of metal? I proceeded to hold my police department ID & badge up so it could be seen. I was told since I wasn't "in uniform" I couldn't come in. (!? again). Do detectives & investigators wear uniforms? I understand this branch was robbed in the past, but having a metal detector @ the door only relays the message that you don't care what happens to customers outside, but you'll make sure to keep your stuff safe inside! Also, since this (and the 56th & Georgetown branch, which also has the metal detectors @ the entrance) are in a predominantly African American area of the city, I have to wonder why this is where you have metal detectors. I know they are not @ the other locations I have visited (especially in Carmel & downtown Indy). Of course, those are more affluent & predominantly Caucasian areas. I am hopeful that a positive resolution can be accomplished to this apparently discriminatory policy. Since I am on vacation most of next week, I will await your response before alerting my local F.O.P. and other organizations to which I belong, or have might have an interest in this for their other members. Thank you. |

| Plinker | it always makes me laugh how banks always bring in security measures after the fact. a bank is robbed, and then they hire the 75 year old man with a hi-point to guard the bank...geesh! KB opcorn2:

![]() | You just need to pick up a ceramic Glock 9 and plastic ammo. Then you should be fine. ![]() I'd be temped to ask them if they could send someone out in the parking lot to help me close out my accounts.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If National City Bank was where I had my account and I was refused entrance after showing ID etc, then I'd be moving my money. If you are a FOP Lodge 86 member, join the IPD Credit Union, have your check direct deposited. I think that I'd be calling someone at the corporate office for a clarification of their bank entrance policies. Someone's head needs to roll ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | How do they expect you to do your business if you have an account and they won't let you in? Even if you were willing to "leave it in the car," what if someone dropped you off or you rode the bus or a bicycle? I'd damn well move my money the first time this happened to me.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I carry in a bank all the time and have never seen one with a metal detector at the door. The whole point of carrying when I go to the bank is to protect myself from robbery when I am making a deposit. If I have to leave my gun in the car then I would expect them to send a security guard out to escort me in!!!

![]() | Get a better bank, if you can: www.usaa.com I haven't visited any sort of a bank branch in over a year, except to an outside atm for cash (mostly for buying guns). |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | National City Bank and I parted company many moons ago after they refused to make change for a hundred dollar bill for me, claiming (incorrectly) that I didn't have an account with them. As it happened, I had my mortgage with them as well as several other accounts. Hope it was worth it, guys, cuz you'll never get my business again!
