Nevermind. Scut got to it first. (jinx!)

"could've" and "could of" sound the same. The correct way of writing it is "could've."

I've ranted enough for one week. I'll try to be better moving forward.

Either way, grammar or facts, I'm glad I never continued my degree in Journalism and moved on to something else. My OCD would have seriously threatened my co-workers.

This is the quote pasted in from the article:
"I had my gun and I was pointing it at him," Stevens said. "And I was telling him, 'Get out of my house' a bunch of times."

Isn't that what you are saying is correct?

They evidently fixed it. My original quote was a cut-n-paste right from their story. They also fixed the "could of" travesty. That's thing about web journalism. It's easy to fix mistakes.

Still.. scary thought that things get published without a good proofreading first. Those were stand-out grammatical errors. No wonder facts get screwy.

I agree. Our local paper down here (the Courier & Press) sometimes looks like it is edited by 8th graders.

I'm glad the family is safe. It's touching (and possibly lawyer-advised?) that the homeowner wants the BG to recover.

That said....

is up with publishing the names of the victims??? Do they want them to be victimized again by perps who know the homeowner's gun is probably in evidence lockup with SAPD?

Stupid bastards.
