I won't go. If for some reason I did go, I'd have to do so completely unarmed the whole trip, as I won't leave my weapon in the car either, at least not there.
For those who advocate carrying anyway in places where the law forbids, this is not just a broken rule where you'll get a smack on the wrist and be asked to leave. I know that "concealed means concealed" but I also know how sometimes a "print" or a stretch, lean, fall, or whatever can expose your firearm.

In researching this reply, however, I discovered something interesting:

Quote:
80 IAC 4-4-4 Deadly weapons prohibited
Quote:
Authority: IC 15-1.5-2-8

Affected: IC 15-1.5-2; IC 15-1.5-5
Sec. 4. (a) This rule does not apply to a federal, state, or local law enforcement officer or to a person who has been employed or authorized by the state fair commission to provide security protection and services during the annual state fair.
(b) No person in possession of a deadly weapon shall be permitted onto or be permitted to remain on the fairgrounds during the annual state fair.
(c) Any deadly weapon found in the possession of a person while on the fairgrounds during the annual state fair is subject to immediate confiscation by law enforcement officers or other persons authorized by the executive director of the state fair commission.
(d) Any person properly licensed to carry a firearm must secure the firearm in a locked compartment of his or her vehicle, and it shall not be visible to passersby.

(State Fair Commission; 80 IAC 4-4-4; filed Jul 7, 2003, 3:15 p.m.: 26 IR 3538)

See above where it says what the authority for this section is 15-1.5-2-8? (I don't know why it's inserting the extra "quote"; I've deleted that 5 times)

Title 15 of the IC has been repealed in it's entireity.

If the authority for the section has been repealed, then anything it authorized should be similarly repealed, correct? I wouldn't carry until I had that from a lawyer, but this might be worth researching. It may just be legal to carry at State Fair after all.

Blessings,
B

Didn't it used to be right in the Indiana firearm law that carrying concealed at the State Fair was a crime? I can't find it now, only references to it... but I swear I actually read it in the code once, right next to daycares, schools, and riverboats.

Edit: *looks up*

It was once posted that way on PDO, Ryan, but I don't think it's in the IC. They tend to address different areas individually; for example, the riverboats, the State Fair, and schools are all three in different types of code. So are shipping ports. I have a list from the old PDO archive, but this BB isn't letting me upload it- it keeps truncating halfway through. Not sure why.

Blessings,
B

I found this

Quote:
80 IAC 4-4-4 Deadly weapons prohibited
Authority: IC 15-13-2-9
Affected: IC 15-13-2; IC 15-13-7
Sec. 4. (a) This rule does not apply to a federal, state, or local law enforcement officer or to a person who has been employed
or authorized by the state fair commission to provide security protection and services during the annual state fair.
(b) No person in possession of a deadly weapon shall be permitted onto or be permitted to remain on the fairgrounds during
the annual state fair.
(c) Any deadly weapon found in the possession of a person while on the fairgrounds during the annual state fair is subject to
immediate confiscation by law enforcement officers or other persons authorized by the executive director of the state fair commission.
(d) Any person properly licensed to carry a firearm must secure the firearm in a locked compartment of his or her vehicle, and
it shall not be visible to passersby. (State Fair Commission; 80 IAC 4-4-4; filed Jul 7, 2003, 3:15 p.m.: 26 IR 3538; readopted filed
Oct 4, 2007, 10:29 a.m.: 20071024-IR-080070451RFA)
IC 15-13-2-9 led to Indiana Code 15-13-2 which said
Quote:
IC 15-13-2-9
Rules
Sec. 9. The commission may adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to implement this article.
As added by P.L.2-2008, SEC.4.

Looks like it was repealed?

Hrmm. I"m going to feel so naked tomorrow, oh well. I probably wouldn't have carried even if it was clearly legal and allowed... don't need the crazy looks from people if my shirt raises up.

That is why it is concealed.

Actually carrying is right. It was given to us by the constitution. What isnt right is them taking away our rights. I wont even comment on the smart thing
