I read an excellent article on holster safety in Concealed Carry Magazine, and i wondered if would be on her website... sure enough it is.

I just read the article at the link you posted.

There is one thing I always tell people that I introduce to guns and shooting. I always tell them when holstering to move the trigger finger away from the firearm far enough that the holster slides easily between the gun and the finger. That way you still have a firm grip and control of the gun without changing the position of your hand while holstering. I have seen people try to move their hand in relation to the gun while holstering and end up dropping it, or snagging it (including the trigger) on something. Everyone I showed this too said that it seemed easier to holster that way.

The way the "rules" are, you have to violate 2 to have an "accident." In some circumstances, it's almost impossible to keep rule #2 when holstering/drawing. That's what rule #3 is for. If you shoot yourself drawing or holstering, you violated rules 2 AND 3 (or you have an improperly made, i.e. unsafe, holster).
