Absolutely.

I figured they were part of the drunk parade I see every night I do a second shift. 12:30 is early though, that would make them loud but not part of the 3 am falling down crowd.

As far as getting in trouble, if some guy shoots an attacker he might get in trouble. If some girl drops an attacker, you might end up with a change in policy.

In either case the important part of the story would be a stopped attacker and a safe "victim".

If their vision was distorted by alcohol, I don't think it will take too much skill on the part of a defense attorney to free their suspect-their vision was obviously distorted enough of him to mistake him fo' mah clahent as well, yuh Honuh.

Of course, that begs the questions: Had they all been drinking, what is the likelihood that any of them would have been lawfully carrying, and further, what is the likelihood that whoever did would be up on at least preliminary charges, courtesy of the DA down there?

Blessings,
B

If you're going to have a designated driver, then why not have a designated CCW?

Because, honestly, most kids think they're invincible, and that it won't happen to them

You forget, this is college, and it's the weekend. A lot of people start drinking right after class Friday. People will drink, pass out, then wake up to go out later. Guy or girl shoots an attacker on campus, they will be expelled, not a doubt in my mind. Now, if it's a righteous shoot (they still may be taken into police custody) and they still expel you, you may be able to get yourself a good lawyer and make something happen that way.

I found it a little odd that the girls who got cut just went back to their dorms though, another hint that they may have been drinking.

The sad thing is the spin that will probably come from this.

"Thank goodness the attacker wasn't armed with a gun! That rule probably saved their lives! More rules! More Rules! No knives! No gobstoppers!"

Absolutely not! Every one of those people tailgating (read: outdoor beerpong, drinking, etc) are drinking water. I mean, would the police really just watch everyone do that? lol >80% of the ppl tailgating are under 21, and IU is a "dry campus". That works so well lol
