![]() | New Indy Resident I just moved to Indianapolis a month ago and quite frankly, I don't feel very safe here. I've grown up in a upscale city in California all my life and moved to Indiana to attend Purdue. I've just recently graduated and landed a new job here in Indianapolis where it is quite different. A few questions that I have: I have gotten a few drinking related misdemeanors in college, will this affect my ability to get a CC license? When I do get a CC license and I get pulled over, should the first thing out of my mouth is that I have a concealed weapon? |

![]() ![]() | First: WELCOME to Indiana and the forum. First off Indiana issues a "License To Carry Hnadgun" Chances are that minor misdemeanors will not keep you from getting a LTCH. I would strongly suggest two things for you to read before applying. http://www.in.gov/isp/ Go down to "Firearms Licensing" and read the regulations etc. Either buy or go to the library and get a copy of: Indiana handgun Law by Bryan Lee Ciyou The only time you have to notify a policeman that you are armed is if he asks you. Hope this helps and welcome to the land of freedom |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Maybe if you live on the near East side, but most of the surrounding metro areas are pretty safe-feeling, at least IMHO.

![]() | I live next to the canal in a very $$$ apartment. I feel safe in the downtown area but when I venture outside the area, i.e across the river, I don't feel safe. I like to get cheap groceries and hand wash my car and that requires going to some areas where I wouldn't like going. |
