    I heard tuning forks.

Yep! That's the SD Tactical Arms Flash Hider. Allegedly no one has had a problem with it ringing. I'm not sure how to muffle or eliminate it short of grinding the tines off. I think shortening one will only cause a change in pitch.

Aluminium end caps too? I'll be keeping track of how yours hold up. I still have a nice Prepper Discount aluminium tube. Maybe I should make another one for 5.56.

The end cap is aluminum but the thread protector is carbon steel. I got the thread protector from SD Tactical so that it would match the Flash Hider and Muzzle Brake. We shot about 150 rounds through it today of regular steel cased ammo with no problems. I took the caps off when I got home and there was very little carbon on them.

As you can hear in the video the flash hider rings pretty good. I'd like to weld 4 small pieces of steel to it to kill the ringing. Is there anyone on the westside of Indy who would be willing to do a small bit of welding? The flash hider is carbon steel so welding it should be very easy.

Dan, the harmonics of pronged flash hiders are what make them so effective. Neo's vortex on his Draco it's so effective the flash looks like someone flicking a Zippo in the dark, instead of the usual fireball. PM me. I have a MIG welder and I know how to use it.

I'm not as concerned about the flash hiding aspect as the ringing. I think the mod I'm looking at will retain the flash hiding and either eliminate or at least lessen the ring.
    PM inbound.

Thanks to redpitbull44 the ringing from the flash hider has stopped! I made some small angled bits of steel to go into each slot and he welded them in place. I then ground the extra weld off and cleaned everything up. I ran some rounds through it and it works like a charm. No ringing and the flash is non-existent. It reminds me of a really beefy A2 bird cage with threads for a suppressor.
