Looks like it has a stock on it. Doesn't that make it a SBS?

Nothing, absolutely nothing... That's an SBS.

If it's registered as an SBS they're fine (as long as it isn't violating state law)... But on the other hand, if it's registered as an AOW... That stock just made it an unregistered SBS which is 10 years/$250,000...

About a month ago an IN Class 3 SOT told me that once registered as an AOW, one could leagally install a stock as it is already an AOW and hence not a shotgun anymore. I recall inquiring about that statement on the board here and people all disagreed with the class 3 SOT dealer. Now I am no expert and there is probably also another issue coming in, could this be an SBS under Indiana law and may be would still qualify as an AOW under federal. Just a possibility, I don't know I am not familiar enough with all the nuiances but I am certainly interested in what the seller responds or how ATF sees this.

It would make a fun toy.

Yes, only NFA item not legal in IN, many other states allow them, VA for example, I have seen many at the Nation's gun show in VA.

Not quite, Indiana doesn't allow explosive DD's either... (Unless I'm thinking of a different state... Too much info rattling around in my head :-/)

The United States legal code (18 USC 921) defines the shotgun as "a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder, and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth bore either a number of ball shot or a single projectile for each single pull of the trigger."

This spells it out very clear. The AOW would legally be remade to fire from the shoulder, thus making it an SBS.

What can we do to get our state to allow S.B.Shotguns? I have always wanted one but did not want to be in the police! No offense officers.

We need to get IC 35-47-5-4.1 either repealed or modified... It's certainly possible, but it would require us to put some effort behind it.
