![]() | we'll you're continuing to be rather vague...any reason? hard to be helpful if you can't/won't state what you are wanting to do... dif forms and steps for machinguns, sbrs, aows, suppressors, buying, making, etc. generally though 1) Buy/pay for item 2) fill out form 1/4 3) have cleo sign off on form 1/4 4) get fingerprinted 5) engrave sbr w/makers info if applicable 6) submit $200 + 2x form 1/4 + cert of citizenship to batfe + 2x fingerprints 7) wait 8) recieve approved form 1/4 back 9) make/pickup item |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It is not as bad as you might think, it just requires patience, alot of patience. Some of us are "frequent flyers" in the NFA game, and if any of you guys need help getting thru the process just post a thread and we will get you straightened out. |

![]() ![]() | Yep, when you really think about it, the only additional effort required over buying any other gun through a dealer is: -Getting a picture to attach to the form (like a passport photo, which takes very little time and effort)... -Going to the Sheriff's Office to get his signature. I try to get there early in the AM and catch him there, so it gets signed while I wait ... -And getting fingerprinted, which you can do while at the Sheriff's office. You drop that and $200 in an envelope and mail it. It's maybe an extra 30 minutes work total. You have to fill out the form, but you have to fill out a form with any other gun anyway. The engraving is an SBR thing, so if you get an MG, suppressor, or AOW, it's not a factor. It's the wait after sending it in that kills ya. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you live in the town of Speedway then you'll need to get Chief Dine to sign. Oh, it's the buyer who needs the signoff.

| God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are Crazy ![]() | So what, the chief of police in town you live in signs the paperwork? Does the CoP have the power to say no you can't have NFA item?Where do you get the paper work? Also, where can you go to buy suppressors and the like?

2) The CLEO can refuse to sign, however, as mentioned above, there are ways around this. Some folks that encounter a stubborn CLEO have had good luck by just explaining the NFA process and its legalities, and then politely telling the CLEO that witholding his signature means you will have to use another route to obtain your toy. (This is when you explain to the CLEO that trust and LLC option.) 3)You can get the forms directly from the ATF website for FREE. But this is only necessary if your are buying a NFA item from an individual or building an NFA item yourself. When you buy a NFA item from a CLASS III dealer he will supply you with all the forms, mostly filled out, you would just need to finish the parts of the form that pertain to you as well as attach your pics and get the CLEO signoff. 4) Good class III dealers can be hard to find, over the years I have used three different C3's, one went out of buisness (I seen that comming), another just pissed me off from lack of communication and just plain being a knucklehead, the third and final is probably the finest folks in the gun biz I have ever meet and if they weren't so damn far away I would buy all my guns from them. (ACME Firearms in Seymour.) But to really help you, you need to figure out which NFA item is to be your first, I suggest a good .22lr silencer, as it is fairly cheap and just plain fun! Because after you get thru the first NFA purchase, you WILL want more. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ...what Craig said! I'll give a big +1 to ACME in Seymour. If they weren't so far from me, I'd be there all the time! I will say that GOOD C3 dealers are rare as hen's teeth. My first dealer was a first class ***-hat and he almost soured me to the whole NFA process. Then I moved-on and found a good one. Like Craig, I have used 4 different dealers. Out of those 4, I would highly recommend 2, but each is quite a hike from Speedway.
