![]() ![]() | The reason they are asking what they are asking is because a lot of people ask "How do you get a Class 3?" when what they really mean is "What does it take to buy a machinegun/suppressor/AOW/etc?". It usually comes from an assumption that you need a license of some sort to own one, which isn't the case. The term "Class 3" is the sort-of name for the type of license needed to deal in these types of things. The average owner is not a dealer. They buy each gun/suppressor/whatever one transaction at a time. So to answer your question we need to know: Are you asking how to become a dealer? or... Are you asking how and what it takes to buy an MG/suppressor/whatever? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm gonna guess that the OP wants to know how to buy either a Suppressor or Machinegun. To that end, I'll answer. You can buy either of the above as a civillian. Suppressors are still being produced and are relatively inexpensive. Machineguns, on the other hand, are no longer being produced for sale in the civilain market. That ended in 1986 and, as such, they are very expensive and the supply is fixed. The process, however, for buying either is the same. You don't apply for any type of 'license'. What you do is apply for the item to be transferred either from the dealer, or current owner, to yourself. This transfer is taxed at the rate of $200 per item transferred and requires a substantial background check through the BATFE. Currently, the time frame required to complete the above steps is around 6-8 weeks. It is, however, worth every second IMHO. If you would like more detailed info on how to do this, drop me a PM and I'd be happy to walk you through it. If there were an NFA forum on this site, I'd bet it would contain a sticky detailing how to do just such a thing...WINK, WINK... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There are not enough posts being made on this forum regarding NFA stuff to set up a dedicated forum. I don't want to set up a forum and have it sit there. I don't like dead forums. Out of all the regional gun boards I looked over before creating this forum only a couple had an NFA section and out of those few it was the slowest forum on the site with the lowest post count. If I start seeing a lot of posts on the matter to the point where I think we need a forum I will set one up.
