#1, mis-aligned threads To Check: Put the can on it, then check the alignment. There are several ways you can do this, some more accurate than the other. The cheapest, easiest is to put it on, then look through the bore to see if it is obviously mis-aligned. If you can see straight through, angle it back and forth until you can see the edge of the can at the side of the barrel (you should only be able to see a little bit of it, if any). Look all around so you see the edge of the can at the edge of the barrel at various points around the circumference of the bore. At any point do you see more of the can than at another location? Sorry, that may be confusing, if so I can try to clarify more. Another option is to get some sort of "gauge" rod, that slides snugly into the bore, slide this in, and see how the can aligns with it. This may not be easy to find, and it likely won't be cheap. The Fix: Have the barrel re-threaded (if you know the can threads are straight) #2, Unstablized ammo (bullets tumbling). To Check: While there likely isn't a fix to a certain ammo/barrel combination, first shoot without the can, checking the ammo at several different ranges, to see if it may be tumbling. If not, put the can on and hope for the best ![]() The Fix: try different ammo. If that doesn't work, you may have to go to a dedicated barrel/upper. | |
