![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Debating first suppressor purchase... I'm about to sell off a few other toys, possibly to have $$$ for a suppressor. The question is "Where do I start?!" I currently own a G27 and a Beretta 92FS, so I've thought about doing something similar to this thread for the Beretta... But Britton also has a great deal on those Tac65 .22LR suppressors too... I don't have a .22LR handgun yet, but I could pickup a P22 + Tac65 for close to what I'd spend on the 9mm suppressor + barrel threading (or so I imagine). With all that being said, if you recommend I go with the 9mm suppressor, what should I look at? The Trident SW9? I'm not looking to dump a ton of money into this, so if the 9mm + barrel threading is going to be near $1k investment, I may just stick with the P22 + Tac65.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | How much do you shoot your Beretta? If you shoot a lot you'll probably enjoy suppressing it. If you don't I doubt it will get you out shooting more. Everyone is different, but I'd still wear hearing protection with a suppressed 9mm, the muzzle report is probably going to be louder than you think. But I'll happily shoot a suppressed 22LR with bare ears. You get the 'Hollywood' effect with one. After figuring in the less expensive ammo and the P22 being a fun gun to plink with, you'll probably end up shooting it a lot. So thats how I'd look at it, which one would get the most use. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As for the 9mm cans, I'd be looking at the SWR Trident-9 or the Gemtech Multimount. Both of these cans offer EXCELLENT suppression capability and are priced in the $599 range. That said, by the time you pick one up and pay the tax, you already have $800 in the can, plus another $100-$150 in a thread job, that'll put you close to your $1k mark. I have to disagree with the above poster about the 9mm suppression characteristics. Shooting heavy (147gr) ammunition, it'll be plenty quiet that you don't have to wear ear protection. Move down to 115gr cheap stuff, and it'll be less impressive.... The Walther and the TAC65 combo would give you the best bang (or lack thereof) for your buck. You should be able to pick up that combo for around $700 total. I GUARANTEE that this combo would get used more. I have several cans and my P22/OutbackII combination gets BY FAR the most trigger time. It is stupid quiet and tends to bring a smile to everyone's face. My : Get the TAC and the Walther....

A guy at the range the other day was making jokes about me bringing a pellet gun. I had to drop the mag to prove to him that it was a P22.

I had the same thing happen at MCFG one time. I was shooting my P22/OutbackII combo and a guy and his boy were shooting next to me. I overheard the dad make a comment that I must feel really silly bringing my airsoft toy to a gun range. I took the can off and sent a few downrange. He then came over and asked me about it. He was a nice fella afterall... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the Beretta hasn't gotten a lot of use actually, so thank you for pointing that out. it is everyone's favorite to shoot when we go out though because it just feels so nice. keep the replies rolling, they are very helpful for processing this choice ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() | If you live in town it might be nice to have a suppressed 22 if you need to shoot something around your house. No it's not legal, but you won't be getting called in by your neighbors. Example, troublesome critters like poisonous snake, squirell getting in your attic or whatever. |
