![]() ![]() ![]() | Don't take my word on it, call the state police headquarters of the states you plan on carrying in and see whether they will allow you to carry in their state with a Utah permit. Do your homework before you shell out hard earned dollars for something that might not be what its being touted as. Not looking for a flame war either. I'm just thinking you might be selling something that isn't what its being represented as, is all....Folks ought to do their homework. |

The Utah non-resident permit (along with the FL permit) is highly respected and recognized. Here is the link to the State of Utah website so that people can see it for themselves: Utah Department of Public Safety I am also a Utah certified concealed firearms instructor, as can be verified here: http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/doc...tstate_055.pdf Things do change and I am about to update the ad as the total number of states is now 32 (when UT permit is combined with an IN handgun license) as NV no longer recognizes IN, UT, or FL licenses/permits. A similar situation is true in that TN no longer recognizes the IN handgun license as it does not contain a photograph, but does recognize the UT permit. Jim

![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm gonna have to apologize to Mr Floyd . I had no business fussing with his thread. It also appears that information I was given( from someone I obviously trusted) did not prove to be correct. My apologies , Sir. What is the difference between reciprocity( formal agreement ) and "recognizing" a permit? |

![]() Two things, first, I absolutely agree with the statement in your post about people should check with states they are traveling to and make sure the laws have not changed. My personal stance is that you should not trust sites like handgunlaws.us, or even the NRA because they can fall behind with the most up-to-date info (even though they try their best to be accurate). Instead, go directly to the "horses mouth" and look at the state website (typically state police or department of public safety). Second, you ask a great question about reciprocity vs. recognition. Reciprocity means that states have formal, written agreements between them accepting each others permits. Recognition means there is no formal written agreement, but, due to the states laws regarding acceptance of permits, the (in this case, Utah) permit/license will be honored in that state. Regards, Jim
