I am trying to find out anything about a 410 gauge double barrel hammer gun that has RICHARDS marked on the sides of the breech with some scroll work. It also has scroll on the ends of the barrels where they meet the breech. This is a pin fired gun i believe. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Best way to get a 10/22 for customizing?

I had a 10/22T and loved it but sold it.

I want another and the tactical T is perfect. It's exactly how I had mine set up except I like the shorter barrel better. It all have the same OAL when my slender is attached.

I would need to thread the barrel though. Would I be better off finding a cheapo 10/22 and get a tactical innovations barrel and buy the stock myself? Can I get "junked" 10/22 rifles with good receivers?

Thanks guys.

Gas block on my M&P15 is canted

I've had my M&P15 for around 7 or 8 months now. It is the OR (optic ready) model that has a railed gas block rather than a standard AR front sight.

Upon installing some YHM folding BUISs, I noticed that I was having to move the rear apperture quite a bit to the left to zero the rifle. I thought maybe something was wrong with the rifle, with me, or with the BUIS. After trying a different front BUIS, I found the same problem, ruling out that front sight. I tryed a different rear BUIS and had to adjust it to the left as well, ruling out the rear BUIS.

So, something must be wrong with the rifle. Looking down the bbl, I noticed that the top of the gas block didn't appear to be parallel to the flat top, to the tune of maybe a degree or two of slope downward to the right when viewed from the business end of the bbl. (toward the left side of the rifle). This would mean that the front sight pin would be to the left of true center by a few degrees, meaning I would have to dial the rear sight to the left to compensate.

Well, I picked up a S&W branded Troy handguard, and for grins mounted the front BUIS on it. Sure enough, that fixed the problem and I was able to zero the rifle with the windage roughly in the middle of the rear sight, like it should be.

I typically use an Aimpoint clone for my primary sighting device on this rifle (saving for a real one), and normally shoot with the BUIS stowed, and figured I'd live with it. Admitedly, it looks a bit odd that my BUIS is mounted on the handguard, rather than on the rail on the gasblock, but looks don't matter.

Image: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd136/jblomenberg16/DSC06064.jpg

My question to you guys is: can I do anything about it? The gas block is pinned to the bbl, so it isn't like I can re-index it myself.

I figure my options are:

1) Send it to S&W and see if they will fix / replace. I'm the second owner of the upper, so not sure if S&W will honor any sort of warranty. Advantage

2) Remove the site and replace it with something else. Not sure what my options are for a new front sight, but am open to options.

3) Replace my quad rail with an extended carbine, rail, designed to work with standard M4's with regular front sights. Like this one --> # - products/mctar17xpu.gif (http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/popup.cfm?type=i&id=products/mctar17xpu.gif)

I'm kinda leaning towards option 3, as it would have the benefit of increasing my sight radius a bit, plus allow me to continue to use the swivel sling mount I currently have that plugs right into the bottom of the gas block.

My new 30/30 Question?

I picked up a 30/30 from a fellow Ingoer. I have been looking for one, not sure why just on my list of wants.

I got a Revelation Western Auto Supply Model 200 M, made by Marlin. In by all rights it is is Marlin 336. I don't remember the Western Auto parts stores but after a little research I found out that they were bought out by Sears back in 1987 for the Craftsman and DieHard brand names.

My gun Dates to 1973. It is in good shape for it's age. The bluing is almost perfect. The wood is not bad a few bumps.

Now for my question, might be a dumb one.....There is a Daylight 4x32 scope on it, don't know anything about the scope, but the mounts are a weaver. So why does the scope/mounts pivot? The only guess I have is that so you can move the scope out of the way to safely drop the hammer...... Also how is the accuracy of these, would it be better to put on some see though mounts for better accuracy?

Thanks for the info...

I bought an older Hi Point Model 995 that still shot great but needed a new magazine release button.I called Hi Point to see about shipping it in for service. After talking to a Tech I found out that the mag button had been updated and he would send me one out. I also told him I needed to order a scope rail and to my surprise he said "no problem, I'll send one along". I asked if the were doing the new TS stocks yet and was told "not quite yet but if you want, I can sneak it through and do it for you". I decided not to spend the extra $60 for the stock but ordered a extra mag and a flash suppressor for $32 and no shipping charge. (this was on Monday) Wednesday my items arrived and once again my gun is like new and I saved having to ship it in and be without it.Although I don't care for their pistols I do like the Rifle. I wish other Companies had the same service that Hi Point has.
On another note I had to order parts from Ruger today and shippng was almost as much as the parts.

Just thought I'd let everyone know about the great experience that Dad and I have had so far in ordering a receiver from NoDak Spud. On Monday afternoon I mailed the order and money order for an NDS2EZ AK-74 receiver. I had an email confirmation in my box today that it has already shipped! My FFL was already on file with them. I figure it'll be there on Monday, so I've now got something fun to build up over the week I am out of classes for Thanksgiving! :rockwoot: I'll try to post some pictures of my build as it progresses. As of now, I have all parts prepped and ready to go (barrel removed from trunion, etc). The kit I am using is a Bulgarian one from the special TG International had a few months back. As of now it's looking like I'll have this AK74 built for about $350. :D

New Bohica AAR

I bought a Bohica .50 BMG upper this summer to keep my LAR Grizzly company. I just put eyes on it and fired it for the first time this afternoon. Scope is an SWFA Super Sniper 20x42. Here's what I posted on arfcom about it:

Ok, UPS just got here and I'm getting the rings and scope mounted. I'll post a an AAR in an hour or so unless I'm in the hospital...Image: http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies/smiley_abused.gif

{later} I bore sighted it in at a hundred yards and then shot a round, about eight inches high and three to the right. I can tell you it was nervous making
firing it for the first time, in spite of the fact I'm hardly a .50bmg newbie. I did have to lightly tap the bolt open. Adjusted the scope and was one inch left and 4 low on the second
shot. I need to check the manual and see what the clicks are on the SS. I was a lot more relaxed on the second shot. I actually saw the muzzle flash through the scope,
so I didn't close my eyes :) I'm pretty sure I did on the first shot.

The recoil isn't bad, it's a little more than my LAR Grizzly, which is the mildest recoiling .50 I've shot. Seems to be about the same as my AR-50 was.

I had to end the shooting session today since those were the last two rounds out of the batch of 14 I'm doing my reloading test on. Over the next
few days I'll be loading them up with reload number 5. 218gr H50BMG under a 650 gr projectile. I'm curious to see what the velocity difference will be between
my two guns. In a week or two when I get some time and the loading done, I'll probably run through the entire batch in an afternoon which will be the most
.50 shooting I've done in one day (yes, I know I am but a babe in the woods compared to some here who run through in a day what I shoot in a year, but I'm not
rich...)

I like the SS scope thus far. Decent clarity and the knobs feel crisp. It was a heavily overcast day yet the target was clear. I used Larue QD LT-123 30mm
mounts since I wanted a quick detach. I'll be interested to see how well it holds zero being dismounted and remounted. The rings arrived with the usual assortment
of bling, bumper stickers, hat, seasoning, bottle opener.

Using an AR for Hunting

Well i have a few friends that are hunters. Personally never been deer hunting. I am kinda interested in going out with them next year a little bit. I am also in the process of building my AR. (.223/5.56) So i am curious if i can hunt in indiana for deer with a AR-15. Is it legal, Is it even worth doing with a .223 caliber. Can anyone can give me some heads up or point me in the direction of learning this stuff..

thanks

Is it more desirable for Buckshot to shoot tight or spread out?

This is sort of a tangent thought to the excellent* range report (http://ingunowners.com/forums/long_guns/61871-range_report_remington_870_-_testing_the_pattern_of_various_brands_of_buckshot.html) *provided by *lovemywoods*. He demonstrated the differences in shooting different brands of buckshot from a 12 gauge. Some brands shot a tighter pattern, and some spread the pellets out much wider. The shot pattern ranged from 1-6 inches in diameter, when fired from twenty-five feet downrange.

In a gunfight scenario, is it more desirable to have a tight shot pattern or a wide shot pattern? Image: http://www.ingunowners.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif

On the one hand, a tight blast will deliver lots of energy to one spot on the enemy.

On the other hand, a wide blast will deliver pellets across more space, devastating more tissue. Perhaps a slight increase in chance of hitting your target as well.

Thoughts?

I am thinking of getting an AR in 7.62 since I have tons of ammo in that caliber. I have never had any interest in AR's before and have not followed on what all is involved in building one. I see threads on Uppers, Lowers, receivers...etc.... but have no idea what all you need to build one. Here are my questions.

If I buy or build one in 7.62 how much would it cost to also have it shoot .223? (second receiver or upper?)

If I buy one fully built, who are decent manufacturers that build reliable guns.... I have seen Bushmaster, DPMS, Armalight listed brands and of course Colt, but not sure of others....

How much $$$ will I be out for a basic rifle and maybe 4 30rd. mags?

My definate requirement would be 100% reliability as far as FTF's and such.

thanks for any advice,
Todd

Shotshell Stuck In Barrel

I have a Remington 870 12ga and a friend of mine loaded it with a handful of shells to test the action. Well there was a 16ga shell mixed in and he didn't notice. Now the 16ga shell is lodged down inside the barrel so that no other shell can go into the chamber and the receiver won't close all the way (which is a good thing I guess). I need to know the safest way of removing it from the barrel since it is still a live shell and hasn't been tapped. I don't know if it's safe to just push it out from the other end. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
