There is a very helpful private FFL that lives in Portage. He does an online business out of his house and will do transfers for you if you contact him for a cheap price.

The guy's name is Dennis and I dealt with him this week. He was very helpful regarding a FFL transfer from out of state. He even worked with me while he was away on vacation. The prices were good, and the service was prompt. I'll be dealing with Dennis again. :yesway::yesway:

Ask him for quotes on weapons you are searching for.

This is his email.
glshooters@gmail.com

He has an INGO profile but I'm not sure how active he is on here. You might want to email him directly.

Stan and Dave are both class act guys (besides being VERY well schooled) in all aspects of our hobby. And to top it all off, THEY GOT SOME NEAT ****. I have done several Title1 & 2 transfers thru them with NO problems and they know how to serve a customer. You can reach them at 765-426-4937.:ingo::rockwoot::ar15:

Just wanted to take a minute and give two big thumbs up to Beech Grove Firearms. Having been in Indy for only a couple months, I've been going around to many of the local gun shops to compare them. These guys are professionals, and they're very cool to just talk to.

No push, they ordered me a new set of holsters, they were here when they said they would be - and they were the right ones. Another shop said they were on backorder, and they'd be in "when they got there." Beech Grove ordered them and I had them in 4 days.

Excellent service, great people working there, great prices too. All you could want from a small, local gunshop. Thanks again, guys. :twocents:

Precision Arms of Indiana - Columbia City

Stopped for lunch in Columbia City today, while sitting there pulled up the local list of stores - and found out I was pretty close to Precision Arms.

It was easy to find, I parked right across the street on the square.

The shop was well lit, and I was greeted immediately - even though the counterperson was waiting on another customer.

I perused the inventory, and took notice of a Model 70 Heavy Varmint on the rack behind the counter. I've had several over the years and was hoping for a 22-250.

The counterperson walked away from the other customer and asked me if I was interested in something. I told him I'd like to see the Model 70 Heavy Varmint, and pointed at it.

*And then it began.*

"You see, this is a Winchester Model 70, Heavy Varmint. It's in 308 Winchester, and has a Leupold Mark VI 10x just like the snipers use."

*At that point I should have probably smiled, thanked him and left - but I was somewhat curious and he handed it to me.*

It had obviously had some bedding work done to it, the crown was factory and the bolt face and lugs were the rough finish typical of the New Haven rifles.

I asked who the gunsmith was..."It was blah, blah (not a name I recognized). Have you ever heard of Carlos Hathcock?"

*Now I knew I had made a grave mistake in staying.*

I responded with a "Hmm" as I was still turning the rifle over in my hands trying to see if the Leupold was a clone - as it really didn't look "right".

Anyway - he then goes on to tell me what a decorated soldier Mr. Hatchcock was - which was apparently highly entertaining to the other customer as they were both looking at me like I was an idiot.

And then the kicker*..."He's the same fellow that did ALL of Carlos Hatchcocks tuning on his Model 70's."*

As I hand it back, he proceeds to start working the bolt back and forth while holding on an unknown target in the square and dry firing it.

I made a hasty retreat, and don't plan to visit again.
