Thats the site owners rule, and it keeps people from just signing up to sell/buy stuff.

It is for we get to know people. People are more inclined to deal with people that have posted in the forums. The classified section of this forum is a bonus for the members. We are foremost a gun forum not a buy and sell site.

It is easy to get 10 posts.

This issue is bigger than "it's Fenways rules, tough". Fenway doesn't just make up rules for the sake of having rules. The OP is probably more interested in the reason why the rule exists. CWood has gotten to the point- forum members all benefit when we get to know the seller. How else do we get to know you except by your posts? When you actively contribute thoughtful posts, we get a sense for who you are, and how safe it is to do business with you. People have been burned on this site, and most commonly it is by new members. Bad reputation spreads quickly and members take note.

We didn't used to have any limitations. Back then, we had a lot of hit-and-run members who would come on just to buy or sell their one thing (frequently not even gun-related) and then we'd never see them again. Fenway decided that he didn't want to be a free version of Gunbroker.com and didn't want the cast-off garbage from Craigslist. As a measure to entice people to actually become active on the board and to prevent spamming, he instituted the 10 post rule. You'll note the rule actually says 10 quality posts, not just ten "I agree!" posts.
