Was at walmart picking up groceries and saw the general manager, and decided to stop him and chat about ammo and firearm sales. Below is an abridged version of the conversation. (Mods if this is in the wrong section feel free to move.)

Me: how are you doing? who makes the decision on ammunition ordering and other firearms related stock.

Manager: it is all on allocation from the federal government.

Me: Really, I didn't know that. Why is it that way?

Manager: Because, I sell ammo, pharmaceuticals, food, and everything else they regulate how much I can stock and sell.

Me: Are you sure that is not a Walmart policy, and not a government policy? The Plainfield and Brownsburg stores always seem to have more stock then you.

Manager. I could order a 1,000 cases and only send me 1 because of allocation. That just the way it is.

Me: do you plan to start selling firearms like the Brownsburg store has recently started doing.

Manager: No! I go the the Greencastle store to buy guns and order all my ammo from Cabelas. There is too much red tape to selling guns. I still have my FFL from 9 years ago when I opened the store and I like my job and want to keep it so we will not be selling any guns.

Me: That is too bad, well have a nice to day.

Not want I wanted to here from him. Thought I would share with the rest of INGO. AVON Walmart will never sell guns while under current management.

So he's just affraid he could sell a gun to the wrong person and lose his FFL and get in trouble with the justice?

They probably do more mistakes by selling drugs to the wrong persons on a daily basis that they would with guns.

I highly doubt it is government "allocation", however, I have heard multiple WM employees say that they don't ORDER guns, rather they just show up.

Wish that would happen at home. :D

"Honey the gun just showed up, I swear I didn't buy it or order it" :dunno:

Having dealt with management at way to many Wally's it is often the manager running his little world to his liking and not much more. This is just my opinion from working around them Every store runs differently from the last. You would think they would be cookie cutter for efficiency.

Someone posted a thread a few years back claiming that some of the managers were ordering stuff that wouldn't sell, then putting it on clearance and buying it themselves.

I was told that the Brownsburg Wal-Mart Manager pulled every string he could to be able to sell firearms. He had been working at it for a very long time.

Maybe with their discount it's a good deal, but usually the stuff they put on clearance is higher than the stuff which replaces it.

You could impress him a lot by telling him ....

.... that you've just let 23,999 Indiana male <mostly> shoppers know that he is an ass-hat. We need business-cards that say that, with logo. EBG.
