I suppose it may depend upon the creature, and also depend upon the caliber you've got at your disposal, but perhaps some of you have experience in dispatching wildlife that's a threat?

Where do you shoot to kill an animal? Wolf? Wild dogs? Bear? Bobcat?

Right behind the front shoulder (heart, Lungs, Liver) has been the best from my experience. I have hunted hogs, dogs, deer with gun and bow. Anything else would be a much higher chance of wounding and losing the animal.

A threatening animal should be shot through the shoulder(s).

A lung shot will kill them, but a threat needs stopped ASAP. Break 'em down and trash the vitals at the same time.
