I'm confused a bit on the "Gun Buy Back" programs I've been hearing about on the news and such.
What are these campaigns supposed to benefit or help solve?
Are they geared more toward trying to get the BG to turn in his firearms or just anybody that wants to offload a firearm?

Please shed some light on this.

Looks like you're 1 post away from your 50, with questions like these. I think everyone knows that gun buy backs don't work, most of the guns are cheap, broken guns that gun owners themselves "turn in"

What is suppose to work? And if they don't work then why are they still going on? I don't get it... and what is the significance of having 50 posts? Do I win something? I never win anything....

Ill participate in one! Ive got some junkers and can go buy some more just for the buy back! Ill take $100+ each for the junkers. Ill walk away with the cash for a new rifle or pistol and they get stuck with the junkers that are barely worth anything for parts! Win for me! :)

...and why does the media make a big hoopla over a celebrity or actor taking ONE of their probably several firearms to a "Gun Buy Back" ?

I actually have a couple rusted old junk guns to sell at a buyback...if they have anything to offer that I want.

The goal is to get BG's to turn in stolen guns and grandma's to turn in old guns. The real result is that people see a way to unload junk guns for higher than market value.

They've been proven to be ineffective in getting "guns off the streets".

    EDIT:
What is suppose to work? And if they don't work then why are they still going on? I don't get it...
Liberals never stop just because their program doesn't work. Rationality is not their strong suit.

and what is the significance of having 50 posts? Do I win something? I never win anything....
50 posts = access to classified. 223 Gunner thinks you started this thread by asking a question he deems is mundane in order for you to boost your post count. It happens, but you've been here since June so I don't think that was your motive.

Feinstein say a lot of nonsense. I figure a buyback of "evil guns" would cost roughly $4 bil. Do you think congress can find $4 billion to waste on buying guns? Oh wait, don't forget the cost of destruction - $5 billion.[/QUOTE]

Yes they can...they find enough money for other 'public works' projects that don't go anywhere but are deemed oh so necessary. Someone's taking advantage of the recent events that are going to make anything gun control related look like a good idea to someone.

If i didn't have an intricate system of friends and family to buy, sell, and trade junk with, I'd participate in a gun buyback.
