I need ideas for a gift

I need ideas for a gift for an outgoinig Boy Scout leader who has been our committee chairman for some 21 years. We want to give him a gun of some sort. He is also retiring from his 9-5. He is an NRA instructor for both rifle and shotgun. We want to have this gift inscribed so I need some space on the gun in either the steel or nice woodword to do that. I thought a Henry .22 would be good. American made good quality and if he wants he can shoot it at any range. Some of the leaders want to get him a shotgun. We have a budget of about $400-$500. I need ideas in rifle and shotgun so I can present to the leadership and let them pick. Your help is appreciated! (this is supposed to be a surprise so if you know this guy by chance, don't say anything, I don't think he is on here).

A Ruger Mark III hunter stainless would be a great gift, it comes with very nice cocobolo grips and overall is a great firearm.

Whatever you settle on, think about having the butt stock Lasered. You can have his accomplishments Lasered into the wood for a fitting tribute. I think your Henry choice is Excellent.

I have been emailing today and the Leadership wants to get a base model over/under like the Mossburg Silver or the Savage Gold Wing. Not sure I agree but it is thier money.
