For my 40th birthday this weekend, I am having a bunch of my closest friends out to my cabin. Over the past few months, I have been trying to devise a fun shooting game/set up to run people through as my buddies like to shoot.

After much work and planning, I have come up with GUN GOLF. The object, like golf, is to take the least amount of shots to hit all the targets. 9 holes. 3 shotgun holes, 3 rifle holes, 3 pistol holes.

Luckily, because my cabin property is hilly, I was able to set up all these holes using natural hillsides as backstops.

Figured INGO might get a kick out of this.

Pictures or a video would be way cool [hint, hint]. I have a buddy that was talking about doing something like this. It would be great to use yours as inspiration.

Ditto on the "closest friend" criteria.

Also, can you bring your range further south? Say, towards greater Louisville?

One question. The part where you break the beer bottles, are they empty? And if so, what is the time frame in between emptying the bottles and shooting?

I am very happy to report that the inaugural round of Gun Golf was a COMPLETE SUCCESS!!! (aside from the fact that I won :)

I learned a lot and will be tweeking a few things here and there to make it better. Some holes were WAY to hard. Some holes were WAY to easy. Overall, it took a group of 8 guys about 4 hours to play the round. Most importantly, it was a safe experience and all my buddies took my safety rule and talk to heart.

Here are a few pictures from the round:

HOLE #2: .357 Ruger Blackhawk shooting beer bottles at 5 yards

HOLE #3: Ruger 10/22 shooting golf balls at 25 yards
