Within the realm of guns, I hear both terms used almost synonymously.

For example, I went to one store where I was told they have an armorer on staff who would help with some repiar issues in lieu of returning the gun to its manufacturer.

In other places, I am told that they have a gusmith or gunsmiths on staff who can repair units and do customizations.

Police department discussion often brings up "armorer".

Is there any difference in the two terms?

Armorers are trainined to work on a specific gun for repairs. Gunsmith do normal repairs and custom gun work. Gunsmith fit new parts, barrels, triggers, ect. As an Armorer we are trained to inspects and replace parts by the factory.
