Delayed on Black Friday, anyone else?

For the first time ever, I was delayed for a handgun this past Friday. I could swear the shop said it was delayed until 12/1, but I had never dealt with a delay before, so it got me off my game a little. Is that normal? I hold a 03 FFL and just renewed in the past year. I guess my real question is, what day can I pick it up given there will likely be no further response from FBI? Did anyone else get delayed or experience delays on a Black Friday?

On the 4th business day (as defined by the Feds) the seller is allowed to transfer the firearm to you.

So 12/1 is correct.

But it may come back "proceed" at any time before then. So be sure to call the seller daily.

Normally, I would check first thing in the A.M. and any that had come back overnight, I would call. But I usually didn't call those that came back through the day until the next day.

NICS backlog, apparently. This happened to me, today. Other person behind the counter didn't seem surprised, nor did I, actually, with all the craziness from foreigners, politics, etc. Have to wait until Monday, 5 Dec, unless they call me sooner.

I don't understand delaying an FFL holder.
Dos that mean your license validity is also in question during this period?

I don't know that having an FFL 03 (C&R) would have any bearing on purchasing a modern firearm though.

Ah. He proposed it, but it never happened. Licensed dealers have always had to go through the NICS system when selling a firearm in their official capacity as a licensed dealer. That hasn't changed. You or I can sell from our private collections without performing the background check, just as private sellers at gun shows can. Nothing has changed in that regard.

NICS has had a few outages recently that stop them from running checks. I'm a type 1 and the notifications when they go down. That's probably why you were delayed
