I picked up an RWS Diana Md 45 air rifle several months ago at an auction. Paid around $170 whether that's high or low, who knows. I bought it to shoot in my basement for fun but it is almost too nice/good for that. And to be honest, the cocking effort is a little heavy for my aging arms for extended periods of plinking. It is .177 cal., in excellent condition and came with a Simmons variable scope as well as the factory sights.

It has sat since I bought it and I think a smaller, less powerful rifle or pistol will suit my needs more. I was going to take it to my gun club's auction but didn't know what the going rate is for these. Anyone have experience with this model?

1 on Gunbroker, no glass starting bid $250. A NOS one sold for $225, no Glass. Both marked "Made in West Germany". I'd think 250 anyhow with the Glass on it. They "Don't make them like that" anymore!

Thanks for the input. It is marked "made in West Germany" and the scope is a 4x32mm fixed Simmons Air Gun Competition model with an AO. Interestingly it is graduated at 7.5, 10, 15, 20...out to 150 yards or meters.

It's a few weeks till the auction, maybe I should set up a backstop in the basement and try it out. I can do a full 20 meter range down there and even have a small shooting booth with sound insulation from the previous owner.

I have a Model 45 and I agree the cocking effort doesn't lean itself to long shooting sessions. I sit in the basement, I prefer my Gamo Shadow 1000, easier to cock. I get about 50 fps more out of my Gamo vs. the RWS. Some of the older RWS have a leather piston seal that may dry out and crack.
