What is a "moderate" budget to you? I have a feeling it is going to be different for everyone.
To me "moderate" for an AR would be around $800 dollars. Less than that are "Entry Level" AR's, for me anyway.

Mods should move this to the "Fitness Club" thread. Running is good for your health.
Besides, it gives INGO something to yak about.
Any AR is OK to plink with. You don't have to "DEPEND" on a plinking AR. Buy as cheap as you can find if it's only going to be a plinker.
On the other hand, if you're going to use it for self defense as well then spend the money on a quality AR. There's a new thread for ya OP.

Just starting a opinion thread seeing what everyone thinks is a good AR platform for a decent budget to plink with?

The AR platform is not a plinking rifle. It is a serious combat rifle and those who master it earn the title of OPERATOR.

I think Rock River Arms makes an OPERATOR rifle. It must be a good start.
