I have an old Remington 552 Speedmaster .22 semi-auto rifle. Wonderful gun, and it`s killed just a ton of squirrels. I bought this rifle in 1980, and it still looks nearly brand new today. If anyone is familiar with the 552, you know there are no sling swivels on the rifle, and the forearm is so thin, one cannot be added. My question then is, is there a reliable sling alternative that would work for this rifle? I thought at one time there were slings that you loop each end back through and put it tight on either end, over the stock and barrel, but it doesn`t seem very safe to me.

Is there anything out there that will work?

It's crude but you could attach a zip tie to the barrel and run a loop of paracord thru the tie. Attach sling to the paracord. For the rear stock, you should be able to attach a legitimate swivel stud. It's not the most attractive, but it works. I love both of mine.
