Why change what works? We had 50s on some trucks, Mk19s on others and 240B's on others. Never thought it was an issue. We had the supporting fire that we needed and the 50 was more than capable of handling so much on its own.

Because some company with connections needs to sell some new guns.....

I can see some utility on an MRAP. The kid playing video games inside the truck can switch between weapons systems. But on other trucks it would probably be too clumsy.

That just could not be a quick and easy switch between aiming the two weapons... The mortar would have to arc up and out, wouldn't it? And wouldn't that make aiming the .50 AND the mortar nigh impossible together??

Meh, it's the Ma-Deuce version of an M-16 with a grenade launcher. There will be few platforms which would benefit from the utility of such a weapon. And it comes nowhere close to the title of most lethal weapon yet.

The article did not name the 'developers' who, if real, would be crowing about the new contract from the rooftops making sure you knew their name. Sounds like a fake story to me; from msn no less.

    Ol' Ma Deuce on 'rhoids.
It's not like she wasn't the baddest ***** around as she is.
    Good Morning wake up call.
For those of you that don't really know the Deuce.... You can't even begin to understand until you been there. There's a reason the .50bmg has survived so many conflicts and hasn't slowed down one bit.

    Agreed
I've been very fortunate by getting to fire the M2 on dozens of occasions in non-combat situations, and I practically needed a surgeon just to remove the smile from my face each time.

Does more lethal make the enemy more dead???
Yes, it also kills the souls and will to fight of those it's used against.
There's not much to hide behind the deuce can't penetrate.
Add on some grenades and you have a very versatile weapon for offensive and defensive uses.
Gets me warm and fuzzy all over.

If it isn't just clickbait(looking at the articles at the bottom, I think it is clickbait)...but regardless, I think a lighter barrel for the ground troops would be good. Steel has come a long way over the years, there's probably ways to lighten the entire gun up and not lose an ounce(so to speak) of reliability of the gun.

Works great if all the hostiles are coming from exactly the same place.

Just look at WWII war ships. Multiple guns on Multiple turrets.
    Now one per ship.
    How much defense is there?
