Yeah thats because the sheeple don't understand what socialism really is.

They hear that everyone will be taken care of by mother government and that everyone will get their "fair share" of the nations wealth. What they don't understand is that under socialism you eventually run out of rich people to take money from.

See, this is why ignorant people **** me off. I deal with them all day where I work and then they want to ram their ignorance down my throat.

Sorry, looks like my generation is divided in half between socialism and capitalism. I blame this on the education system. Social engineering at it's finest.

Many Americans prefer socialism to capitalism, new poll finds

I saw that too, makes me sick to think people think its a good thing. Problem is, with so many people out of work it looks good at first, but when you get down to the ultimate consequences of pure socialism, it is the undoing of any nation.

Hey not all public education is bad. I was talking with my son the other day and the subject of taxes came up, and how some people want to tax the rich at 90%, he gave me this look, like huh? And asked why they would do that. I told him that some people believe the rich have too much money and it should be distributed to those who didn't so everyone would be equal. He looked at me and said 'That's a great idea' which started to get me worried until he finished 'look how well it worked in cuba':rockwoot:

Only a slight majority of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Asked whether capitalism or socialism is a better system, 53% of American adults cited capitalism, 20% said socialism and 27% said they weren't sure.

I'm still trying to figure out how 53% is a slight majority over 20% or 27%. Oh, perhaps they were combining those who were for socialism with the group that wasn't sure. Got it, let's tweak numbers to make the story. Still not sure how we got "many Americans" when only 1,000 were polled.

It's all in how you report it.

That's where we are all to blame. We all turned the educational system over to liberals. None of us that read can be surprised. The schools have been peddling redistribution as an ideology. They demonize religion, the entire idea of morality as being judgmental and closed minded. They teach that the Founders were a bunch of dead white guys that have nothing to teach us because they allowed slavery to exist. They would rather teach how great it is that Heather has two mommies than math, english or actual history. They believe everyone should get an A or win a trophy when undeserved rather than risk hurting someone's feelings. Why should the kids believe in the so called Puritan work ethic when they have no clue what it means. They have been taught the polar opposite.

I would counter that by saying that I think you'd be surprised by how many actually do know what it is. The government has created a generation of ninnies who think they can sit on their collective backsides and take food from our tables.

I would like to see the questions...in polling it's all in how the question is worded. Question example: would you rather live in a country where over 50,000 people die in automobile accidents yearly or one in which only a few thousand do? Ok now what wasn't said was that in the second part of the question only the ruling class could own cars. I trust polls about as much as I do statistics thrown around by politicians.

    NEA = teachers union

NEA (can't find link right now) either takes or gives money to communist party usa.

NEA has really smart people who hide the truth and make stuff sound really good to teachers, as do other socialist/communist organizations

The thing that eveyone forgets to tell people about socialism, is that you can only enforce it by force, or threat of force/imprisonment. People will willingly participate in capitalism/free market.

    Fixed that for you.

Our "public" education system is socialist education. When children spend 40 hours a week for 12 - 13 years in the care of a socialist system, we should not be surprised when they adopt pro-socialist attitudes.

I think I want to move to the Grainne!

I've been wondering a lot lately, when we finally do begin interplanetary colonization, whether it will even be possible to leave behind the entrenched attitudes of "it's always been done this way". I'm rapidly becoming convinced that the reason the approach to government/governance hasn't changed in several thousand years is because very few people can be bothered to try to imagine things any differently. I don't think it's a lack of ability so much as a lack of effort.

I don't think it is as much a lack of effort as a lack of being able to look over and see a country/empire doing so well and the population going I want to live like they do. People will always compare their selves to the Jones' and Smiths'.

Exactly right - plus you have the possibility of slanting by the pollsters or whoever ordered the poll.
