I ran across a comment by Ballard after the tragic shooting of the officer last night stating that he desires an assault weapons ban. Some quick research revealed he has held this position for quite some time.

Ogden on Politics: Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard Defies Attorney General Greg Zoeller Over Gun Rights; Says Second Amendment Does Not Apply To Indianapolis

Further searches found that he (and the Carmel mayor Brainard, who always has been this way) also advocate for climate change and minimum wage increase legislation.

Does he have any conservative values?

Ballard has always been anti gun. I got slammed with references on here a few years ago when I said there there was no evidence he was anti gun. You can try to find the thread, good luck. I had to eat some humble pie that day.

How many Ballards, Brainards, Romneys, Christies McCains have to be elected before they're no longer considered liberals and be called republicans?

I'm 'afraid' for Ballard that even IF his concept of the Second Amendment was accepted, he would STILL have a real 'problem' with 'getting around' the Indiana Constitution:

Article I Section 32. The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State.

Section 32, being only 17 words, is even more succinct than the 2nd Amendment, and provides even less 'leeway' for 'interpretation' or in application.

The solution is exceedingly simple: STOP voting in anti-gun loons, regardless of political affiliation. How, one may ask? Research. Look into the candidate's background BEFORE offering support for them, and campaign hard against those who have any semblance of anti-gun 'beliefs'.

IOW, be PROactive rather than REactive, when voting. :yesway:

No matter what side of the aisle they've aligned themselves, they're all under the umbrella of Statists.

The fallacy of the undistributed middle is an INGO favorite. You are either a statist (another blown out, worthless term) or a full blown communist (yet another blown out, worthless term).

    stat·ism (sttzm)
    n.
The practice or doctrine of giving a centralized government control over economic planning and policy.
    statist adj. & n.

    statist

    n
    1. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) an advocate of statism
    2. (Statistics) a less common name for a statistician
    3. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) a politician or statesman
    adj
    4. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) of, characteristic of, advocating, or relating to statism

Its not a blown out, worthless term. It's just so common amongst politicians and constitutes it has to be used frequently which may cause an immunity in the ears of those who are themselves Statists. But it doesn't make the use of term an incorrect assessment.

For that matter, our founding fathers were statist.

But at least they realized just how bad the state can be, and attempted to warn future generations to reign in the government from time to time.
We haven't reigned in the government since the formation of the CSA in 1861, and that ended up being a failure.

Except that fallacy doesn't apply at all.

If it does please show your work so we can all become smarter.

    I rest my case.

Tyranny is another INGO favorite. Did you know that stop signs, schools, and libraries are tyranny?
