So if the blue line is drawn to protect fellow officers, and prosecutors are pushed by public frenzy in order to make their bones, who can we - and law enforcement - trust to vigorously yet objectively investigate allegations of law enforcement abuse?

Mosby is incompetent, and is working way above her talent. The cops seem to be circling the wagons. But maybe that's because they feel the officers are being railroaded, which is probably true.

Unfortunately, I can see how that fault line would crack. Talk to some IMPD officers, if you get the chance. In an honest moment, I think they would admit that certain prosecutors don't always seem to have the officers' backs.

On top of that, some officers never get quite comfortable with the notion that just because they know a guy is guilty doesn't mean it can be proven. So, prosecutors make tough decisions that make officers question their integrity and commitment.

Of course, that looks like a SERIOUSLY extreme situation, but the fault lines are there in most large jurisdictions, IMHO.

Special prosecutors and outside police agencies and possibly the feds....who seem to love to prosecute local law enforcement whenever they possibly can.

Not sure how much I buy that any more. We've seen this administration investigate, sue and prosecute based on partisan and not legal grounds. Unfortunately, once trust is undermined, it is very difficult to get back.

The feds not prosecuting much local law enforcement abuse and corruption could be due to a loss of focus.

...or it could be because there's not a huge amount of corruption and abuse...

...or they may be doing as much or more than ever.

One thing for sure this whole fiasco is going to be very expensive.

Maybe the city can float a bond issue to cover all the payouts and legal fees.

If the Dept of Justice would spend less time pandering to the so called Social Justice Warriors, and stay the hell out of matters of the States, this issue would be lessened. The powers that be in many states are less and less concerned with actual justice and more concerned with pacifying the vocal minorities. The unpleasant truths that occur day in and day out are part of a reality that some refuse to accept. Those in the "dindu nuffin" portion of society are NOT the ones who need pandered to to keep law and order. The unpleasant truths seem too much for some to accept and they'd rather sacrifice justice and righteousness to avoid hurting the feelings of the vocal minority.

    That is Chicago, not Baltimore

This article addresses specific issues in "...hundreds of cities..."

    It includes naming:

    New York City
    Chicago
    Baltimore
    Denver
    Spokane

What amazes me is that none of these lawyers appear to be afraid of disbarment!:xmad: They allegedly (for Kirk) appear to be willing to lie, stonewall, and act with extremely unethical behavior. I applaud a vigorous defense of ones client, but it would appear from the article that they go above and beyond this threshold. They seem to act with impunity and without regard to any fear of repercussion.

How is this possible? In court we are all supposed to be treated equally. Of course that isn't really the case, but the court is to act as a leveling tool. However, to perform in such a duty all parties are bound by certain rules and codes of conduct, otherwise it's just the biggest bully on the block. And if that's the case let's just raise the Gadsden Flag in court.

    Regards,

    Doug
