    O.K.
We have just at 5 hours before the first Presidential debate of 2016, and by all accounts, it's looking to have a record viewing audience.
The question for Ingo is, do you think this first debate will end up being of any consequence?

How much impact do you expect it to have on the general election, if any?

It might be interesting to see if anyone changes their views after the debate is over.

It's no secret that I'm no Hillary fan, though I'm not a really big fan of Trump either.
I hope Trump cleans her clock.
That said, one way or the other, I think this debate is going to be "YOOGE"

I guess what I'm asking is,

"What difference, at this point, does it make?"

I'm curious to see how Lester Holt does debating Trump for Hillary.

meh, media will say hitlary was the definition of composed even leadership and trump lied.....

The media is already setting the stage for a Clinton failure.
All day long I've been hearing what a difficult time the press has been giving Hillary during the campaign to date, while simultaneously giving Trump a pass.

They're also talking about "how low the bar is for Trump."
The MSM is saying all he has to do is show up, and not fly off the handle.
They seem to think that's all the more one can possibly expect from Trump, while Hillary, of course, will prove herself to be, "the quintessential public servant".

Copied from mega election thread...debate bingo terms and actions, I will start with six:

If HRC says, "diversity", sip your beer.

If Trump says, "Mexico will pay for the wall" eat a habanero.

If Trump says, "Yuge" sip your beer.

If HRC says "email" do a shot of vodka and perform a full mag dump.

If Trump says "vagina" (Thanks T Lex...) it is an Uncle Joe "warning shot" into the air with a 12GA.

If HRC says "pneumonia" do a Clint Smith "tap, rack and shoot" drill with the nearest pistol.

    What ya'll have to add?

WaPo had an interesting topic on it. It could be that neither one attacks the other. Clinton will emphasize specifics. Trump will emphasize his feelings. Both candidates will appeal to their bases.

If Trump stays away from attacks, I think he'll win, barring any real faux pas.

I think it could turn into a remake of a 'jerry springer' show with both of them dumping each other ("he's an unfit bombastic gas-bag" vs "crooked hillary's short-circuited mind is shot"). I expect the moderator to help the felonious dowager though, by throwing her soft balls and saving the curve balls for Trump. And maybe having a "roll the tapes" moment ready if she gets cornered.

News just reported that Hillary declined to do the traditional "walk-through" of the venue.
I wonder if she's saving her strength to endure the grueling 90 minutes of standing...
