Lethal Weapon 4 Subliminal Messages?

Watching it right now and saw something that was interesting. In the scene where they get promoted to Captains abd are walking out, there are two posters in the background

The first says "A Child a Day is Killed By Handguns" and has an NRA symbol crossed out like a no-smoking sign.

The second sign wasn't fully viewable, but it said something about civilian assault weapons, and the same no NRA sign.

Anyone else notice this stuff?

Yes I noticed it and so did a number of other folks when the movie was released originally. Both Gibson and Glover are anti gun and so were the producers of all of the Lethal Force films. "Cop killer bullets. Vests are optional."

Not surprising with Danny Glover involved BUT you should be watching Jericho, On Now WTTV4 7PM - 8PM

Well in the opening, the man with the flame thrower. Mel said " he must be a spokes man for the NRA". If you watch the movie there are anti gun remarks in the hole movie.

Glover is SUPER anti-gun and yes I noticed that stuff in the 4th one.


But by the 4th one, its so bad, all you can do is laugh anyhow.

Mel Gibson ABSOLUTELY IS NOT anti-gun or gun rights. He may have an alcohol problem and you may not like him or his work and it's unfortunate that he uttered those scripted lines on screen, but he's not a typical Hollywood pseudo-liberal socialist-statist.

Dan Glover ABSOLUTELY IS against guns and your right to own and carry them, as is the director of the films, Richard Donner.

The posters and similar images pervade all four of the movies. This is Donner's doing. I suspect more than one big city police department has the same or similar posters on their walls, though.

Good to know. I loved the movies growing up, and liked Gibson to a degree. It was that whole antisemitic rant thing that made me not like the guy.

Drunk ppl in the back of cruisers say things they don't mean. I don't take the rantings that seriously, especially since there has never before been anything anti semetic to come from him or about him.

Just look at the picture, he was sloshed. I'm not going to hold one item like that against him. Consider all his prior (and since) work with the Jewish community and his Christianity... much ado about nothing IMO.

I like Mel and his movies. Still haven't seen apacalipto yet however. Gotta add that to the blockbuster mailing list.

Yep, +1. I'm sure it was the tequila talking, also sure he's had the best of help with that by now.
