![]() ![]() | Q about building/buying from private seller With all the rumors and whatnot going around about the possible repossession about "banned" firearms, I've made up my mind that I do not want to have a paper trail when I get my AR....if that makes sense. The way it is right now, 3 different dealers in the Indy area have records of 2 pistols and 1 rifle in my possession. (unless I "sell" them or "lose them," but I doubt they would buy that lol) If I were to buy an AR from a private individual, wouldn't it be harder for the gov. to know that I have this rifle? Same thing with building one...building one would actually suit my budget better right now, so I could build it as money allows. Besides that, it would teach me quite a bit about the rifle. I'm not quite sure how to word what I'm wanting to know, so please bear with me. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | by building, are you referring to actually machining your lower? Otherwise the lower is still an FFL item, unles bought private. If they're coming for your guns in the first place, they're not gonna stop looking once they find the ones they have papers for.

![]() ![]() | Before I would surrender my AR'S I would probably trade them to some fine individual on this board for something of interest or perhaps another AR not registered to me. I'm sure that I am not the only one here who feels that way. I would hate to guess how many AR'S that this group owns between us. We would no doubt own more if you guys just stayed out of those damn leaky *** boats! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Now that my tin foil hat is secure... Yes, if you purchased an AR or AR receiver privately it would be more difficult for the Gubment to find. However, the myriad on line transactions for parts, mags and ammo would leave a paper trail. No disrespect to the OP, but I would rather spend my time and efforts keeping such a state of affairs from coming to pass. |

| Plinker ![]() | Ammo first then AR. The way I seee it, if the are coming for it it is worthless to me once I run out of ammo. ![]() But its already worthless seeing it is all rusty in the bottom of the Ohio river or was it white river. I forget, I have lost so many firearms in so many different lakes. Then there was that barn fire I had.

You have a great point! As a terrorist you wouldn't want to be waterboarded, you'll tell them everything. So the only answer is to get involved in governemnt. Educate the public and everyone around you. We won't have to bury them if the entire country will fight them. (Not talking civil war here, fight them by doing protests, in the court system, etc. etc.) | |

2. Building an AR usually means assembling more than building. Machining an AR lower is no simple business. Assembling is great but you still have to get a lower either in a person to person transaction or via an FFL. 3. The gov't does not really get an exact list of what you have from an FFL. They can, but it takes them some work and travel so it is not like they are going to just click click on the computer and see into your gun closet. 4. If you have anything and they really want it, they will come and see all that you have. So what is off the list is only kinda theoretically useful. 5. Listing intentions on a website kinda negates things. 6. If you are here, odds are you are on a list. Being on a list is something you likely cannot undo. Welcome to the list. If you are good, maybe you can be on more than one list. Let us help! 7. If you really want to do your best to be ready, get a firearm and get trained. They can never take training from you, ever. And in some situations, training is far more decisive than just having another gun. 8. If you already have guns that are on a list and that makes you worry, post them on the sale forum and many, many people here will be happy to help you out! And even though we laugh and joke, we are serious about one thing: make sure 99% of your energy is in winning the fight, not in planning for if we lose it.
