Question on buying a handgun

Hello I am just wondering if military record have any impact on buying a gun? I was discharged as General under Honerable Conditions. Will this affect anything at all?

The 4473 form asks if you were dishonorably discharged, but thats all.

Should not be a problem with you buying a firearm. Only if someone was dishonorably discharged does it cause a problem.

JByer323 I am going to answer NO, NO, NO, and NO. I am gettin excited. I have been wanting to do this for a long time. Any suggestions on a handgun? I was in the infantry and carried a cold .45 and had a few months with the beretta 9mm, I like the colt more but I need something that I can carry easily. Thanks for all the info

As long as you give your SSN (not required on the 4473, but recommended), you should not have a problem with your name popping up from someone else's misdeeds.

Suggestions? Yeah, there's a suggestion here for every gun imaginable. If you like the 1911, but want something easily carried, take a look at a commander size, like the Dan Wesson CBOB.

Recommend the Springfield Armory "Lightweight Champion Operator" This is a commander size (4") slide on an alloy full size frame and includes a light rail and tritium nite sights. Very comfortable to carry and extremely accurate. It has a bushingless bull barrel. I think it is one of the best 1911 style carry guns. This was the gun that converted my son from Glocks to 1911s. That"s my 2 cents.

there MAY be a slight delay (minutes) depending on your military specialty. very small percentage, but possible. nothing to be concerned about, but you should be aware.

I'm not gonna go out and say that the Glock guys are all wrong, all I'm saying is I'm pretty sure you actually need a 1911.
