    I use Zero Tri industrial cleaner to clean my plated parts. I do this plating for the aerospace industry. You really can't mess up the coating, think of it as chrome plating... As long as you DO NOT use an abrasive to clean it you should be fine. Because the plating is very, very thin (0.0005" to 0.0008"), and can be rubbed / polished off.
