| Anyone have a list of rounds from weakest to strongest Does anyone have one put together? I have a list of mostly all of them, just not in any order, for the most part I know the order, but some are just above my head since im fairly new to all of this. Found that at some website: Quote:
Sorry if this is a repost, tried to search, wouldn't be surprised if i missed it. | |

| That list just looks like it is smallest caliber to largest.

| That list does indeed appear in caliber - from smallest to largest.

| Also keep in mind that "strongest to weakest" is entirely subjective, too. Does speed = strong? Ft. Lbs of energy at the target? What distance is the target? You'd have to narrow down your fields quite a bit in order to make a standardized test. Then you have to determine how you'd go about choosing the projectile weight/s and the powder loading behind the bullet. You can get a .45ACP to produce less terminal energy than a .38Special if you work at it... In short, someone's "strength test" would be entirely subjective to that person and that person's opinion. -J-

| Listing it just by caliber won't tell one much as far as "weakest to strongest" goes. I mean .380 ACP, 9mm, 38 spl, and .357 mag are all about the same caliber but certainly not the same "strength". Furthermore, you can have a range of loads for each cartridge. Calculating the muzzle energy for each load and sorting them is probably the most objective way to do it; even though muzzle energy by itself doesn't tell the whole story. |
