![]() | Observation Its been my observation after 7 years as an RO and CRSO that some shooters are special people. The range rules do not apply to them because they are special. They never admit to a mistake because they are always right. They generally know everything so there is no possibility of them being wrong. These special people are only special in their own minds. The shooters around them know better. As Yogi Berra said You can observe a lot by watching.

![]() | in my opinion atterbury is fine, yes the ro's can be a pain in the neck, but you would be to if you had to put up with every tom, dick, and harry off the street. as for the old range, early in the morning when it was empty was awsome, if it was full hope you had life ins. and for the shotgun shacks on the hill, great people and very informative |

![]() | attebury great place to shoot. ro's are alright, givem a break. they are there all day working just like we all do at our jobs. are you happy and polite all day every day at your job? and most of us do not have to deal with the public when we do our jobs. if you do something wrong at the range they are going to tell you about it. get over it and take it as a learning experiance, they are just trying to keep everyone safe. and you should not b tch about that. |

![]() I like Atterbury. ROs have always been friendly to me. Then again, I don't pretend to be a special know-it-all as mentioned by Buzz815 above, so that might have something to do with it.

![]() ![]() ![]() | The ROs can come off as being a bit brusque but look at it from their perspective of trying to keep the range safe for all and maintaining the same standards for everyone. Everyone here can think of examples on less regulated ranges (I think there are a couple of related threads) of knuckle heads manipulating weapons while people are down range. People muzzling others. Self proclaimed experts that don't need to obey any of the 4 safety rules because they "know what they're doing." The holes in the support beams and ceilings. Etc., etc. If you do what is asked of you (posted rules), there usually isn't much of a problem. Between them being a bit brusque versus the old Atterbury (or the 2 indoor ranges in Indy), I'll take the new style any day. ![]() Home

![]() ![]() | all things considered I like going there. I gotta admit that it is the strictest range that I've been to. I don't consider this a bad thing, because you cannot be too careful around firearms. but it does take some getting used to. I think the rates could be adjusted some to be more family friendly, but thats another matter. |

![]() | I shot there yesterday, and the range officers were nice and friendly. There were only about eight people there, and no one was acting stupid, which i think helped with the RO's being more nice. The range is a great place to shoot, and it being strict just insures your safety, and the safety of everyone else there that is shooting. Way better than the old range. |
