the range is very nice but there range officers can be jerks even when you
follow the rules. i was shoooting my m-1 grand an one come by told me to
pick up my brass which i had been what he talking about was .22cal brass
left by last shooter not me.

You are expected to police up your own brass but should never be expected to pick up someone elses brass. There is a big difference between a .22 round and a 30-06. I hope you set the RSO straight.

Hi Airborne I've only had good experiences at Atterbury. It's a large facility, and when you consider that the RO's are watching over 60 lanes, they have to keep a tight ship in order to maintain a safe environment. I for one am glad they do and feel safe over there.

If I'm not mistaken you're the chief RSO at Atterbury & the NRA Instructor there as well, right?

If so, Thanks for your hard work and the way you control the facility.. It makes it a pleasure to shoot there.

Yes I am the CRSO at the range and I do put on monthly pistol classes.

hi need to revise my last post only one of these guys was rude others have been
very nice./ also last time i was there cost was 8.00 per hr two hr min. i still
enjoy shooting there.

On my only trip to Atterbury the RO's did seem to be a little testy! Of course the one guy that WOULD NOT step behind the line during the cold period, the other guy who kept POINTING THE BARREL OF HIS PISTOL down the line of shooters while impressing his girlfriend, the other guy that WOULDN'T PUT DOWN HIS RIFLE AT THE END OF THE SESSION. Get the point? They have to deal with a mix of probably 80% responsible gunowners and 20% wannabe gangbangers who miraculously somehow know how to pull a trigger that the rules don't apply to. Personally I think they should take away the loudspeaker and put up a stoplight system, when Green they range is open for shooting, when yellow, the range is about to go cold, when red if you're doing something stupid the RO's can "enlighten"you with a load of rock salt!!!

I was raised and trained that everyone on the range is a safety and if someone is being unsafe or just plain stupid its any and everyones job to set them straight, politely mind you. I've been debating making the drive down and had heard nothing but negative stuff until this thread, i'm convinced its worth the trip now.
