   | CMP North Store I'm thinking of making the trip this summer to pick up another Garand and a case of M2 ball. Anybody ever been? Anybody interested in going?

| I would love to pick up an M1 Garand. Unfortunately, I have too many other purchases that take precedence and not enough money to make them.

| Actually, it's really not that hard to buy from them. All you have to do is provide a birth certificate, drivers license, proof of firearms experience (a concealed carry permit works for this, or a DD214), and be a member of a CMP affiliated club. I joined the Garand Collectors Assocation. It's worth the membership if for only for the GCA Journal, which has a wealth of info on the M1. If you want a Garand, the CMP is your best bet. A nice Garand is around $500, and they ship it right to your door, no FFL required.

| You can't go wrong with an M1. I've never fired a rifle that felt so smooth. It is the Cadillac of semi-auto rifles.

They must run a NICS check at CMP. Not real sure on that. They ship from out of state too. My order form went to Anniston Alabama. I think they get around the FFL because the CMP is part of the federal government in some way or another.
