It would be interesting to know why they chose to use the footage of me in the show. It could have been because they thought it was cool, or it was the best of what had after editing. Or it could have been because the producer (Margaret) digs me. Or it could have been because they wanted to reinforce a stereotype about gun owners being fat, out of shape slobs.

I don't have any problems with the guy they chose to host Pia for the month. I thin he did a fine job of representing our point of view, and I would suggest that those who felt otherwise may wish to consider their own prejudices about other gun owners. In addition, having her work the whole time at the high-end gun shop did show another type of gun owner (th eguy who owned the shop).

Too bad they didn't show the part where Pia was looking at me and said, "Break me off a piece o' THAT!" when she was admiring me and perhaps fantasizing a little.

I think I was pretty clear in stating my "prejudices" but just in case others missed it, what I wrote was:
Quote:
I liked it BUT it was full of 'elitist' and 'anti-gun' stereotypes that are now further ingrained in the anti-gun minds of any anti-gunner who watched that episode. Try to take a look at this show from the anti-gun/elitist point of view
I know people in the gun culture from doctors and business people to single women who clerk part time at retail stores and try to make ends meet, the reality is that gun owners are from a WIDE CROSS SECTION of our total culture. BUT, when looked at from an 'elitist' point of view, especially people like Pia on the show who come from areas where guns are virtually non-existent in legal ownership, then they don't know the wide cross section of gun owners that we all know. What they know is what they watched on this show, what the news media says in the mainstream media, and what they hear from politicians.

I say again, this show was not nearly as pro-gun as some would believe.

I enjoyed it, but like others have already stated, it did have a definite anti feel to it.

The guy did a good job, but I wish he would have been a slightly better versed in pro arguments, but they could have edited those out.

What I don't understand is how Pia kept pushing for the kid to go to college, yet she is a 30-something year old "hip-hop" aerobics instructor...Exactly how much college did that require?

Can't you see man? She was trying to save him from being the same knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, hillbilly bubbas that all of us gun owners are!

It had an "Anti" feel because the whole show is pretty liberal based. Just look at what Morgan Spurlock did to get famous in the first place, where he lives, what he does, what his wife does... etc.

All and all, the show was pretty decent. I think the obvious criticisms have been raised in this thread already. My only complaint is that the guy that was playing host didn't bother to pick up the house or at least hang some drywall before having a camera crew in there 24/7 for 30 days...

That being said, I'm college educated and I own three handguns, a shotgun and two rifles, one of which is an EVIL BLACK RIFLE. OMGOMGOMG. Oh yeah, I don't live in the country either. Way to blow that theory out of the water, Pia.
