Got to shoot the M44!

So, I just got back from Atterbury with Spasmo and W9ZEB and Pami. We had a great time, along with a somewhat bizarre side-trip that would have included a 750 ft zipline if not for certain extenuating circumstances which I will not go into here.

I got to shoot my new Mosin Nagant M44 (ok, 60 years old, but new to me) for the first time. It doesn't kick as hard as I was lead to believe, but it definitely had a kick to it. I failed to bring the new shoulder pad I bought, so my t-shirt was the only thing between my shoulder and the metal butt plate. :rolleyesedit: I numbed my arm a couple of times. It was definitely fun shooting with the deployed bayonet.

Shooting at 50 yards, I was able to consistently hit about 6 inch groups, which isn't bad considering I'm not much of a rifleman. After a couple dozen rounds, I can safely say that I'm glad I wasn't on the receiving end of those shots.

I have been wanting to pick one of them up, just havent always something else thats bumps it lower on the list.

$100 made it an easy buy. Plus, since it's not collectible, I don't have to worry about banging it up or "scratching the paint".

I actually stopped at an army surplus store this week looking for a WW2 Russian infantry hat to wear while I shot it.

Lars and Pami should have T-shirts that say "Official INGO Range Buddies". And then they should get Mike to pay for their ammo!

We enjoy shooting; what can I say?

It's more fun shooting with (not AT) other people who enjoy it as well.
