When I was young, I couldn't understand why anyone would WANT to live in Indiana. I mean... it was boring, hillbilly, the weather sucked, and no entertainment.

Now... well the weather still sucks but I can't really picture myself living anywhere else in the US. For the most part, Indiana has the right idea when it comes to laws & freedom ... (of course, the new ruling striping my ability to protect my home from LEO has been disappointing).

    Weather? The weather is fine.

When it is hot, you are not cold.

When it is cold, you are not hot.

When it rains there is no dust or drought.

When it stops raining, you are dry.

The whining about weather is for people who have nothing else to do.

I work at a large ship yard in southern Indiana, and I WILL complain about the weather, I work in it every day, I hate the humidity!!, the cold I can live with. I was raised in Ky, moved to In, and LOVE it!!!

NY is number 50 like 3 times, and #44 once. Why am I not surprised.

I don't call it the People's Democratic Republic of New York for nothing. Maybe I should make it the Union of Soviet Socialist New Yorkers. God I hate this effing state.

That one kind of surprised me I figured it would be closer to the top.

Me too. I understand they have some of the easiest going laws as far as both marijuana and guns. I would like to see which categories play the biggest factors in why a state is considered less or more free.

Kind of related - in various online forums one runs into folks from states that are, shall we say, 'near the bottom of the list,' who complain about things in their states: i.e. weapons laws, taxes, etc.

While I understand that there may be situations that tend to keep people where they are (i.e. restrict their freedom), one of the obvious solutions has to be - Leave. Move. Get out. Live somewhere else.

If the productive, sensible people pulled the plug on NJ, NY, CA, HI, MA, etc. and moved elsewhere the liberal pyramid schemes in those states would collapse.

Btw - I'm surprised Michigan isn't lower on the list - like around 36 or so.
