I'm not going to give my full feelings on this yet, but I will say, we need more people like this general in our society. Its about time someone actually speaks the truth, and tells things the way they really are.

The kind of soldiers who would do that in a public assembly would never rise to the rank and responsibility of a General Officer. Much as it pains me to say it, an officer or senior NCO who wants to attain Major Command Rank is at least as much a politician as a Leader. Far too many officers and NCOs are too much of one and not enough of the other. The ones whole Battalions, Brigades, Divisions, and Corps will follow to Hell tend to be both good politicians AND good Leaders

Although "Robert" and "Brown" are common names, it didn't escape my notice that "COL" Robert K. Brown is the publisher of Soldier of Fortune magazine, and he might very well have said such things to a crowd of recruits.

Glad that some already posted, the dufflebag is the onion of the military. Read some of their other articles. Rangerup has a ton of their articles as well. Such as one about dropping M&Ms out of a C130 for humanitarian reasons, but the M&Ms were falling so fast that they were killing people and it was a massacre. Things like that. Too funny though.
