I have never been a Democrat voter, but I am willing to give any politician credit when they respect our gun rights (no matter what party) and I will criticize any politician when they trash our gun rights (no matter what party).

I just put an email on Reid's site saying I appreciate him backing off the AWB. I did tell him I usually do not vote Democrat, but if they will stop persecuting gun owners that is one less beef I have with the Democrats.

Hey, I am all for bashing them when they do the wrong thing.

But if they're willing to support our rights - or even just quit trashing our rights - I think we should give them credit for it.

Pelosi, in particular, is probably going to get a lot of constituent hate mail for her stance. Let's try to balance that out with some gun owner kudos.

I tend to agree - I don't think her heart is in it. I think she's just playing politics.

However, if she's willing to pretend to support gun owner rights by actually blocking gun control legislation, I will pretend to give her kudos.

I'm not saying I'd vote for her or I'd contribute to her campaign. However, I will put one + in her email to balance out the whining and cringing she is no doubt hearing from her constituents.

Wrong currency.

Their primary currency is power, not money.

If they calculate that passing an AWB would lose them votes and seats in the next election, they'll drop it. I think that's how they're calculating now.

Above all else, Speaker Pelosi does not want to go back to her old job as Minority leader Pelosi. I think the woman would vote for "Babies for Dinner" if she thought it would ensure a Democrat majority in Congress. If she thought she could get a veto-proof majority in the Senate, she'd probably vote for "My Own Grandkids for Dinner."
