Freedom of Religion? What's that?

Connecticut bill to regulate the organization of the Roman Catholic Church.

AN ACT MODIFYING CORPORATE LAWS RELATING TO CERTAIN RELIGIOUS CORPORATIONS.

Commentary on the bill found here: Connecticut looking to regulate the Catholic Church? : Stop The ACLU

Quote:
The separation of church and state is one of the biggest myths out there. There is no Separation of Church and State clause in our Constitution, although people do have a right to freedom of religion. The separation of church and state argument comes from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson, and was noted by Jefferson as a reassurance that the state would not interfere with any church. That’s basically what the First Amendment and the Establishment Clause say: that the government cannot meddle with anyone’s religious freedoms or with the structure of a religious organization.
Well, I guess in Connecticut, that constitutional right no longer matters, because the (Democrat-controlled) Judiciary Committee has introduced a bill giving the state the right to organize Catholic parishes and diocese according to state requirements:

fire1035 is an unknown quantity at this point
Repped and thank you for posting this. You beat me to it. Agree or disagree with how the Church operates this is a clear violation of our 1A rights no matter what your faith. Please do what you can to help in this matter.

Here is a link to the response from the Arch Diocese of Bridgeport, CT.

Diocese of Bridgeport

I continue to dislike the government more and more every day. I may have to join Chuck in Texas if this is how we are going to do things.

No, you must be wrong. The Democrats defend all the other rights in the Bill of Rights. At least that's what the shrill Democrat apologists on here claim every chance they get.
