IL Senator's stance on Cap & Trade

Hello, folks.
I need help. I received a letter today from our U.S. Senator, Dick Durbin in response to my letter telling him I want him to vote AGAINST the Cap & Trade Tax Bill and would like it posted here as well.

Would anyone be willing to PM me with your e-mail address so that I can send it to you to post for me since I am not computer litterate and don't know how to do it?
I promise I will delete the address as soon as my e-mail to you is sent.

Click your left mouse at the top of the email from that village idiot & while keeping it pushed down drag it all the way to the bottom of the email. That will highlight the email. Then right click & go down & left click "copy." Then come back to the forum where you'd type in a reply & right click again & hit "paste." That should do it

Thanks for the help. I'll try that. (After I write it down so I don't forget.)

I appreciate your help. I would REALLY like to be able to do such things without asking my son or anyone else to do it for me.

Thanks again.

Another way to do the same thing is to highlight as described, then press CTRL-C (copy), and when in the posting window, press SHIFT-INSERT (paste)

As for doing it yourself without asking, I would suggest you follow the example of a former co-worker of mine. She has a 3-ring binder with a big label on the front reading, "MY BOOK OF RANDOM CRAP TO KEEP ME SANE". Any tables or references she thinks she might someday need go in there and that book goes with her whenever she works.

Make a similar binder and put in it things like the suggestions you've gotten here, or legislators' email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, etc. Little phrases that catch your eye can go in there, too, so you have one place to look for such things. Put the book by your computer.

Problem solved.

Blessings,
Bill

Thank you for contacting me to express your views regarding the creation of a national "cap-and-trade" program to address global warming. I appreciate hearing from you.

As a part of the Fiscal Year 2010 budget, President Obama laid out his proposal for the creation of a market-based cap-and-trade system to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat global warming. Specifically, President Obama's proposal would cap greenhouse gas emissions at 14 percent below the 2005 levels by 2020, with a goal of reducing emissions by 80 percent from 1990 levels by the year 2050.

By tackling the sources of climate change and taking steps now to reduce the impacts of global warming, we can protect our environmental future while expanding our economy. If we choose to ignore global warming and its consequences, we are placing our planet and our future in grave danger and could face large-scale environmental and economic dislocations that threaten our national security.

Although some see it differently, mainstream scientists have accumulated overwhelming evidence that the global warming problem is real and that we can't afford to wait any longer to act. Most scientists believe that increasing concentrations of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases will raise the earth's temperature by as much as three to 10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century. This temperature change could produce catastrophic changes in our climate.

I am confident that our nation has the ingenuity and technical savvy to achieve meaningful reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. A market-based cap-and-trade system can set the ground rules for private competition, to help us achieve the necessary goals as inexpensively as possible. At the same time, we must provide industries with sufficient time to prepare for new standards and ensure that consumers are not subject to sudden cost increases.
Your voice is a valuable part of this discussion. I will keep your concerns in mind as the Senate considers legislation on this matter.
Thank you again for your message. Please feel free to stay in touch.
Sincerely, <IMG height=60 width=240>
Richard J. Durbin
United States Senator

RJD/hw

(I think I did it. )

WOOHOO!

I DID IT!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

As you can see, Durbin (as well as Burris) is a "Chicago Politician" just like Obama. Is it a wonder that IL is in the "outhouse"?

Good job! It feels good when you do something new, doesn't it? As for the letter, he should have just written that you don't know what is really going on and isn't it lucky that you have him........

That is EXACTLY the feeling I got when I first read that letter!

Poor, little dummy me, "thank you for being there for us 'brain-dead' subjects. What would we do without you?"

I KNOW my BP went up several points when I read that. I knew that he (and Burris) would vote for the bill, but I wanted to give him a record of my opinion on the subject.

Both of our U.S. Senators are Chicago Politicians - just like Obama.
I wish they would secede from the state. (Ok, I'm delusional now. )

You have got love state senators and representatives. They will vote on anything, sometimes with out reading it, or having had a hand in writing it.

The you have others who write something and it gets misplaced or they get re-assigned, which is what might happen to the poor guy who wrote something someone wishes would not see sunlight.

BTW, Isn't Durbin the guy who tried to get the cartridges engraved with serial numbers a year or so ago?
