Do, please, note the lack of smiley's in my post. This is what I'm teaching my son... because it's true.

While I'm all for teaching your children the truth, I'm not sure that public schools are a proper forum for them to preach it. Especially not to their teachers.

My Dad and I talked about politics a lot growing up. He was very conservative, and I agreed with him 100%. He also told me to keep my mouth shut at school.

In my U.S. History and English classes, I didn't listen to his advice. I argued with my teacher when she said that the day the gun was invented was "the worst day in human history", among other things. I got straight A's and ended up with a C in the class.

When my son is of the right age, I'll tell him to keep his mouth shut too (if I ever send him to public schools, which seems unlikely). Getting good grades and getting ahead in life is far more important than arguing with some no-brain liberal propagandizing teacher. It's not like they'll listen to reason anyways.

Remember, our kids will spend their entire lives hearing propaganda of one type or another. I say either pull them from school for the day, or use it as an opportunity to teach them that in the real world, pretty much everybody will lie to them about everything, so they better learn to tell the truth from the lies.

While I understand the large number of comments from people who will keep their kids at home that day I'd like to offer an alternate idea. Why not take a page from the propagandist-in-chief's own playbook and turn the day into your very own "teachable moment"? If you have the option watch the broadcast with your child, or at least afterwards. Then you can have a frank discussion with them about the motives behind this speech and the tactics being used to push a political agenda.

That doesn't mean I would want my son to sacrifice his grades, and therefore a potentially brighter future, in an attempt to educate an ignorant buffoon who will definitely NOT listen to anything he has to say.

A teacher who retaliates against my son with poor grades will have a problem that will not be settled in courts. I do not tolerate bullies, and will not hesitate to resort to physical force to drive the point home. Even his most liberal teacher knew better.

So if you think he's being bullied, by being given a lower grade than he deserves because of his political views, you will resort to physical force? Isn't that basically what you were saying?
